Henry’s slow movements and relaxed presence may offer the nervous system a gentle cue that it is safe to pause, breathe, and settle.

Henry is Rachel Neville’s “soul dog,” walking buddy, and occasional partner in the therapy room. He is at Joshua Tree most days, offering a calm, intuitive presence to anyone who welcomes it—and usually finding the coziest place nearby to settle in.
Henry does not need you to explain what is wrong or find the right words. He simply offers a quiet, steady presence. For many clients, noticing him nearby makes the office feel softer and difficult moments feel a little less lonely.

Watching Henry rest, offering him a treat, or feeling the texture of his fur can help bring attention back into the present moment.
During vulnerable conversations, Henry can provide quiet companionship without questions, expectations, or pressure to perform.
His gentle curiosity can soften the room and create natural moments of connection, humor, and relief when the work feels heavy.
You are never required to pet, feed, or interact with Henry. If you have an allergy, fear of dogs, or simply prefer a Henry-free visit, contact Kelly before your appointment so accommodations can be arranged.
Henry moves through the office slowly and without much urgency. You may see him wandering through the hallway or resting near an open office. If he notices you in the waiting area, he may approach for a quiet sniff before continuing with his very relaxed day.
Henry may approach and sniff you, but his typical greeting does not involve licking, jumping, or slobbering.
You are welcome to greet him—or simply let him pass. Henry does not need attention from everyone he meets.
Treat jars are located around the office. Henry also happily accepts belly scratches and scratches behind the ears.
When Henry is not greeting clients or supervising the hallway, he is usually looking for something soft to curl up beside. He loves long walks, car rides with his head out the window, cozy spaces that seem slightly too small for him, and stealing stuffies—not to destroy, but to snuggle.
Rachel calls Henry her “soul dog” and walking buddy—a bond that follows them from long walks in the sunshine to long days together at Joshua Tree.

Henry’s best work rarely looks impressive. Most often, it looks like quietly settling nearby, offering reassuring company, or reminding everyone in the room to slow down for a moment.
Henry has experience with adults, teens, children, toddlers, and babies. He is notably tolerant, intuitive, gentle, and submissive.
Rachel and Henry have participated in training with a professional dog trainer to strengthen his responsiveness and support safe interactions.
Henry sits, lies down, and shakes with either paw on command. His enthusiasm for these skills may increase when a treat is involved.
