Rachel Lohrman is a licensed professional counselor, trauma therapist and the founder of Joshua Tree Counseling. She specializes in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative disorders in adults, offering Christian trauma therapy when requested by clients. You’ll find her approach to be authentic, relational and encouraging, yet direct and confident. She likes to tell the story of cattle versus buffalo to describe her approach to therapy - when sensing a storm coming, cattle try to outrun the storm and become exhausted in the process whereas buffalo turn into storm, knowing the fastest way out of it is through it. Be the buffalo and Rachel will walk side by side with you into the storm. Rachel uses Deep Brain Reorienting and Trauma Model Therapy, primarily, to help clients heal from trauma.

Rachel is certified in Trauma Model Therapy (TMT) and trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), which are the model she primarily draws from. She is also trained in Neuroaffective Embodied Self Therapy (NEST), Ego State Therapy (EST), Eye Movement Desensitization & Therapy (EMDR), Clinical Hypnosis, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Resource Therapy (RT), Attachment Theory, Mindfulness Practices, and Somatic Psychology. She consults regularly with Cindy Shrigley for DBR. Rachel provides Biblically based Christian counseling for clients who specifically request this.
