How Chet Can Help

Chet works with both couples and individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and develop practical tools for long-term change. His counseling style is structured, thoughtful, and grounded in real-world application—offering a clear path forward for those feeling stuck, discouraged, or emotionally worn down. Whether you’re seeking to rebuild connection in your marriage, manage anxiety or depression, or grow in emotional and spiritual maturity, Chet brings a hope-filled perspective and decades of clinical experience to the work. For clients who desire it, he integrates Christian faith and biblical wisdom in a way that honors both your spiritual and emotional story.

Many of the couples Chet works with are facing the quiet, painful weight of long-term emotional disconnection. Sometimes it shows up as numbness, distance, or going through the motions; other times it’s irritability, withdrawal, or feeling like you’ve lost touch with who you are—or who your partner used to be. Chet brings a grounded, compassionate approach to these stuck places. He helps clients begin to name what’s been buried, understand why it got buried in the first place, and start the healing work of reconnecting.

In his work with couples, Chet often helps partners identify the recurring loops—those familiar, frustrating patterns where both people feel unheard, misunderstood, or emotionally stuck. These interaction cycles can be hard to break without support, and Chet specializes in helping couples recognize the loop, name it, and learn to interrupt it using clear, practical “loop busters.” Whether the loop involves shutting down, criticism, caretaking, or emotional distance, Chet gives couples tools to change the pattern in real time. He also incorporates a family systems approach with genogram work to help each partner explore how their family of origin shaped their expectations, roles, and emotional reactions in the relationship. With greater awareness and intentional skills, couples begin to experience more empathy, accountability, and connection—without needing the same argument to play out on repeat.

Not every relationship issue needs couples counseling to begin healing. Chet works with many individuals who are carrying the weight of relational stress on their own—whether in a marriage, family dynamic, dating relationship, or friendship. Sometimes a partner isn’t ready for therapy, or the client simply needs a space to explore their own role, reactions, and pain in the relationship. Using a blend of Attachment Theory, Family Systems, and CBT, Chet helps clients gain clarity, identify patterns, and make emotionally wise decisions about how they want to show up in their relationships. He helps clients become more grounded, self-aware, and emotionally regulated

Chet often works with individuals who are struggling with anxiety and obsessive compulsive tendencies—whether it shows up as chronic worry, racing thoughts, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty relaxing. His approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Model Therapy (TMT) with mindfulness and somatic strategies to help clients calm their nervous systems and challenge the thought patterns that fuel anxiety. He also draws from Transactional Analysis (TA) to help clients understand their inner dialogue. By identifying these internal voices and learning how to respond from a more grounded, adult perspective, clients begin to feel more empowered, less reactive, and better equipped to manage life’s stressors.

Chet has a heart for supporting missionaries and ministry workers—especially those preparing to enter the mission field or returning home after years of service. He understands that missions work, while deeply meaningful, can also bring emotional strain, relational tension, spiritual burnout, and identity confusion. Whether you’re wrestling with culture shock, grief, spiritual weariness, or the challenge of reintegrating into everyday life, Chet offers a safe, confidential space to process the journey. His approach helps missionaries reconnect or move forward with clarity, wholeness, and renewed purpose.
